Urban Farms often attract local stray cats, becoming safe havens where they can find shelter, hunt, and raise their young.  However this can be detrimental to native bird and wildlife populations.  This gives urban farms and their supporters a unique opportunity to both encourage thriving native wildlife communities while helping to control feral feline populations through spay/neutering, rehoming, and sometimes catch+release for those cats the farm can commit to secure shelter and food.

 

In 2024 we began caring for a number of resident strays, however farm economics usually do not allow for the financial commitment that a full fledged stray rehabilitation program requires.  Because of this, we created the Farm Cat Patron Society, so that anyone who would like to become a part of the solution to Kansas City's exploding stray population can become a member by contributing funds, cat food, medication, and volunteer hours.
