COWPEA (Vigna unguiculata) (60-70 days) (25 seeds)— This cowpea was gifted to us by Michael James Fortune in North Carolina. This is an heirloom cowpea variety from Costal Carolina that has been used in a number of recipes of the Gullah/Geechee people of the Sea Islands for centuries. Combined with Carolina Gold rice to make Reezy Peezy or make some Sea Island Red Pea gravy. The roots of this variety in the Sea Islands reaches back to the 1600s! These plants have short runners and harvest is easy as they stand up off the ground. It is no wonder this variety is listed in the Slow Foods Ark of Taste.
